Again this is a very disputed topic among most people. Some people are completely against graffiti because they consider it as disrespectful or immature. But I think graffiti is great if it is used in the right way. All I know is that people will do graffiti on trains or walls and then will get in trouble with the police for violating people's property. I think it would be so much better if people just used their talent of drawing graffiti in a positive way. Instead of just doing it to break the law, they could do it when it is allowed and then it would be considered meaningful.
A good reason as to why graffiti is considered art is because it lets people express who they truly are. All people are different, some express themselves through sports of their jobs but for these artists, this is their way of expressing who they are with the thing they are most good at, which is art. Another positive reason is that it makes character to a city. Street art brings out these amazing colors and cultures and really just puts a pop on a boring wall or road. These artists aren't actually all that bad, because they are using their talent for the better. It would be most responsible to do it on a wall that it allowed and not illegal so this way everyone can be happy.

This is a very controversial topic but I think the answer is a definite yes for certain age groups. As for the students up to 5th grade I think it is necessary for them to have a time where they can let out all of their energy considering they are usually very hyper. For the students from 6th grade and up they already have an athletic period which can be considered their recess. But that still isn't a time for them to do whatever they please like little kids can at recess. I think a good solution to this would be a free period for students in middle school and high school so that way they would have an athletic period and a period to do as they wish.
A good example of why it is necessary for the little kids is because it is typically their favorite part of the day. I mean if you think about it it is a time where they can go outside and play sports or games with their friends. Without this little break students would probably be so hyper and unfocused in the classroom. Another good example of why a free period is needed for the older students is basically the same thing. Now that we're older we don't really want to go outside and play games but we would still love the time of a free period to ourselves. It would act as kind of a barrer from everything and just the students time to relax and do as they want. All in all I think the school board should definitely consider making a free period for the upperclassmen. Generally most people would say that money cannot buy a person's happiness rather that love and the way you chose to live your life does. I simply disagree with that because I think as long as you spend your money the right way you are going to be happy in some way whether that be with a person or not. Now I'm not saying love doesn't have anything to do with it because it surely has to. I mean I am only 15 years old so I can't talk much about love but I picture it having a big effect in a person's life.
A good example is someone who has a ton of money. Usually those people love the way their lives are with all of the money an income they are getting. It's just who we are as humans, we all love to spend money. Without having a decent amount of money you couldn't buy a house or afford most adult things like taking care of bills. Another good example is that in the long term of our lives, we end up buying things that we are addicted to or in some ways 'love'. Like for a person who is really into cars and they have enough money to buy a nice one. There is no way that you can say that person isn't beaming with happiness. All in all I think money is the first step down the right path to a successful life. In my opinion technology has improved learning in so many ways and without it students would just be bored in class. Nowadays so many things we do in school are revolved around technology. The majority of our assignments and projects we do 100% on an Ipad or computer and that's just what we are used to by now.
A good example of how it is improving students education is that it is widening their variety to different types of technology and how much fun it can be to use it. Also it gives some students who don't have access to technology at their home a chance to be apart of it. School districts probably spend millions of dollars providing computers and Ipads to their school and I think most students agree that it has improved the way they learn. Another reason is that it just makes the classroom more fun. Without our daily use of technology we would just rely on textbooks and paper copies of everything. Although we still do that some of the time, when we use the Ipads and computers we have for fun and freedom with our learning. Over all technology is becoming the new way of education and most students are probably very happy about it! This is a big question for us teens and specifically the ones that are in high school. I feel like the appropriate age of when you are considered an adult would be when you graduate high school and have a job, so for most people that would be around 18 years old.
A good example is when you are able to manage your own money from your job. You are no longer relying on your parents money for food or gas, but now you are responsible to pay for all these things. This is probably one of the biggest reasons because it is a big step away from your parents or guardians who have been right by your side for 17 or 18 years. Another great example is when you are able to figure out situations on your own. In high school when we are assigned a project, a lot of us ask our parents for help because they usually know whats best. Or when you are in a bad situation you can always call your parents or an adult to pick you up. But now we have to figure out projects or assignments all on our own and make sure they are the best of our abilities. Now we have to figure out the best way to remove us from a sticky situation and be responsible about it. I feel like once you can do both of these things, you are considered an adult. There has always been a debate over what time school should start or end. Over course by law school has to be a certain amount of hours long so we should use that in the most valuable way. I would be fine with getting up as early as possible if it means we would get out of school earlier and I'm sure other students would agree. Right now we are at school from 8:20 to 3:35 which is about 7 hours and 15 minutes. I think a good time frame would be from 7:30AM to 2:45PM which is the exact same amount of time but just at a better time.
A good example of why this is a good decision is for all the athletes or students that have extracurricular activities after school. Most of us have some form of a practice or commitment that we have to go to and it is difficult to do these things when we don't even get home until after 4PM with all the traffic. With this new time frame that is a whole hour that we have as usable time. Another example is for homework purposes. We come to school for almost 8 hours and then we come home and usually have at least an hour of homework that we aren't able to start until after our commitments. We would get home an hour earlier with these new times and that is a huge chunk of time to get a ton done before we have to leave for any of our commitments. Changing the world can come from the power of just one person. It just takes an idea or dream and a person that is willing to commit to that and give everything they have to make that dream come to life. Now when I am talking about dreams I am not referring to unrealistic ones like wanting to fly or wanting to be rich, I am referring to actual achievable goals that can make a change for a better.
There are many examples of this in the real world and a big one that we probably all know is the dream that came from Martin Luther King Jr. He was an american civil rights activist and delivered a famous speech about ending racism in the United States. He had a dream, he delivered his dream to the people, and now look at our country. We have had our first ever successful african american president and it's all thanks to Martin Luther King Jr. Now I get that this action only changed one country but it is things like this that can lead to a difference for the good in the real world. Here we are again with another free write that I actually love doing. So today is Friday which means the best day of the week. Lately my weeks have been very busy and been going by so fast which I love because that means before we know it, it's going to be summer and we will be out of school. We have eight weeks left of freshman year, ONLY EIGHT WEEKS and the time has gone by so fast.
Usually every day after school I have something planned wether it's with my friends, soccer, weekly allergy appointments, and so much more. I love being busy, like I think it's my favorite thing to be. Because the time goes by so fast and it makes school a little less painful. All the homework and stress doesn't even seem that bad anymore which makes it easier to go through the week when everyday I am doing something I love. I hope I stay busy for awhile because if I'm not, I feel like I will go insane. In my English class, we have been doing this blog thing for awhile now and it has taught me how to write outside of the box and explore different ways of writing. I could definitely say that this writing has changed me for the better. When we get the prompts of what we have to write, it doesn't even feel like a real assignment that we have to complete for a grade, it just feels like I'm writing for me.
Once I start writing, the words just start coming and it is hard to stop. All these thoughts just come flowing out and it changes the way I think. I don't even realize the things I'm thinking until I start to type them and actually see them with my own eyes. It is sometimes weird to look at a piece of my own writing and just wonder how I came up with that just in a few minutes. I guess I'm trying to say that I enjoy writing because it kind of gives me a whole other perspective on people and life. Right now in my English class I am reading the book "It's Kind of a Funny Story" by Ned Vizzini. This book is a lot different than any other books I have read just because it is dealing with such sensitive topics like depression and suicide. The author of this book has a very unique way of writing that I quite enjoy and he uses a ton of flashback.
In the story when you are reading about the main character Craig and his life right now where you learn that he is dealing with the depression, anxiety, and suicide. It is interesting for the author to explain a flashback in his life because it allows us to see another part of his life where he is actually enjoying himself and is happy. At one point the author goes back to when he was a kid and had a love for drawing maps. Back then a that age, there wasn't much to worry about so you just did whatever made you happy so in his case, it was making maps of the world. The purpose of using flashback in this book is to allow the reader to understand every part of the characters life, including the good and the bad. We are able to understand his life now (the bad) and his life before everything happened (the good). |
